Fish and Game Warden

Job Description

As a Fish and Game Warden, you will be responsible for the management and conservation of forested areas, ensuring the sustainability and health of woodland ecosystems across New South Wales. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders and enforcing regulations to protect wildlife and their habitats.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and monitor assigned forest areas to ensure compliance with conservation regulations and best practices.
• Conduct inspections of forest trails and facilities to report damage or safety hazards.
• Respond to environmental violations and conduct investigations.
• Work with conservation teams on implementing forest management plans.
• Facilitate community workshops on conservation and sustainability.

Requirements

Education

• Preferably a Master's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field

Experience

• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of forest management principles and practices
• Experience in fire management and suppression

Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Ability to travel as required

Certifications

• Firefighter Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in fire management and suppression: Knowledge in managing controlled burns and safety protocols.
• First aid certification: Certification necessary for emergency response in forest environments.
