Job Description

The Psychiatric Technician will play a vital role in providing support and assistance to mental health patients. Working under the supervision of healthcare professionals, this role involves engaging with patients, assisting with daily living tasks, and helping maintain a safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the rehabilitation and support of patients through daily activities.
  • Document patient progress and report any changes to the healthcare team.
  • Help manage crises and apply de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • Participate in team meetings regarding patient care.
  • Educate patients on mental health management strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with facility safety and sanitation standards.
  • Assist in training new staff members.

Requirements

Education
  • Certificate IV in Mental Health or equivalent is preferred
  • Experience with group therapy techniques
