The Ferry Pilot will be responsible for safely navigating and piloting a ferry across waterways, ensuring the safety of passengers and cargo during transit while adhering to all maritime regulations.
Responsibilities
Operate ferry vessels in compliance with local and maritime laws.
Ensure effective communication with shore-based staff throughout trips.
Implement safety protocols and adhere to emergency guidelines.
Manage docking and undocking procedures smoothly and efficiently.
Regularly inspect safety equipment and ensure it's in good working order.
Lead safety briefings for passengers prior to departure.
Coordinate with logistics to ensure timely cargo delivery.
Maintain excellent customer service and address passenger inquiries.
Assist in the recruitment and training of junior crew members.
Participate in fleet maintenance and operational assessments.
Requirements
Education
Certificate of Competency in Marine Operations (Master Class 5) or equivalent
Experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a ferry pilot or similar marine role
