Job Description

As a Diesel Locomotive Firer, you will ensure the safe and efficient operation of our rail services. This role involves monitoring and maintaining locomotive equipment, performing regular inspections, and collaborating with the train crew to guarantee smooth operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage diesel locomotives, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Monitor instruments, gauges, and control panels to ensure correct functioning of the locomotive.
• Manage the supply of fuel to the boiler and regulate combustion rates.
• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on all locomotive systems.
• Identify and troubleshoot locomotive issues, making necessary repairs.
• Coordinate with the Locomotive Engineer to guarantee timely operations.
• Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and procedures.
• Complete and submit all relevant maintenance logs and reports.

Requirements

Education

• Certificate III in Rail Transport (or equivalent)
• Current Rail Safety Worker Card

Experience

• Minimum 2 years' experience as a Diesel Locomotive Firer.

• Mechanical aptitude

Languages

• English: Fluent
