Job Description

We are searching for a Museum Technician and Conservator who is passionate about cultural heritage and possesses a keen eye for detail. The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in the preservation and care of our extensive collection of ethnographic materials.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the condition of ethnographic materials and develop treatment plans.
  • Oversee the documentation of conservation processes and outcomes.
  • Engage in outreach activities to educate the public about conservation efforts.
  • Work alongside the education team to enhance the understanding of cultural heritage.
  • Provide expert advice to external stakeholders regarding collection care.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations related to conservation.
  • Participate in workshops and training to enhance conservation techniques.
  • Contribute to grant proposals for funding conservation initiatives.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Conservation or related field
  • Accreditation in Conservation preferred
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in museum conservation, specifically with cultural artefacts
