We are seeking a passionate Health and Safety Engineer to join our dynamic team in Canberra. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing safety policies and programs, ensuring compliance with Australian regulations and industry standards.

Job Responsibilities
  • Review and update safety protocols to align with current laws and regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety training sessions for staff and management.
  • Monitor workplace conditions to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with external safety auditors and inspectors.
  • Provide expert advice on health and safety matters to project teams.
  • Develop reports and presentations on safety performance for management reviews.
  • Promote a culture of safety within the organisation by engaging with all staff levels.
  • Manage worker's compensation claims and safety-related insurance requirements.
  • Coordinate and facilitate safety drills and emergency response training.
  • Support the integration of safety into operational plans and processes.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or related field
  • Postgraduate qualification in Safety Management or related field is preferred
  • Risk Assessment Expert in identifying and mitigating safety risks.
  • Safety Management Systems Strong knowledge in implementing safety management systems.
  • Workplace Health and Safety Legislation In-depth understanding of Australian workplace safety laws.
  • Emergency Response Planning Skilled in developing emergency response plans.
  • Communication Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical Problem-Solving Strong analytical skills for assessing risks and determining solutions.
  • Team Collaboration Proficient in working collaboratively across teams to drive safety initiatives.
  • Attention to Detail Keen eye for detail in safety audits and reports.
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Australian Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
  • English (Fluent)

  • Specialist knowledge in environmental health and safety: In-depth understanding of environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Experience developing safety training programs: Hands-on experience in developing and implementing effective training programs.
