Job Description

We are seeking an Insurance Underwriter to join our vibrant Melbourne team. In this role, you will assess insurance applications, analyse risks, and determine policy terms that are both fair and profitable. If you have a keen eye for detail and a love for numbers, this is the position for you.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze insurance applications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Work closely with the sales team to enhance client relationships and provide exceptional service.
  • Evaluate risks and make decisions on insurance policy terms, conditions, and premiums.
  • Provide support during underwriting audits and regulatory compliance checks.
  • Create reports and presentations to communicate underwriting trends and insights.
  • Liaise with external partners to acquire necessary data for underwriting decisions.
  • Mentor junior underwriters in developing their skills and understanding of the role.
  • Collaborate with claims professionals to understand the practical implications of underwriting decisions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in underwriting practices.
  • Engage with continuous training to refine underwriting techniques and methodologies.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration
  • Advanced certifications in underwriting are an advantage
Experience
  • 3+ years in underwriting or related fields with a strong focus on risk analysis.
