Special Education Teacher - Severe Emotional Disorders

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate Special Education Teacher focused on severe emotional disorders. In this role, you will work closely with students to address their individual needs, collaborating with families and professionals to facilitate effective learning experiences and growth.

Responsibilities

• Design comprehensive educational programs tailored to students' emotional and behavioural needs.
• Implement classroom management strategies that promote a safe and supportive environment.
• Conduct assessments to evaluate student skills and emotional wellbeing.
• Engage in professional development to enhance teaching practices.
• Foster a positive classroom culture that encourages student self-regulation.
• Coordinate with external service providers to facilitate additional support for students.
• Encourage parental involvement in students' educational journeys.
• Advocate for students’ educational rights and emotional support.
• Participate in school-wide initiatives aimed at improving overall student wellbeing.

Requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Education or related field is advantageous
• Experience with assistive technology is a plus

Experience

• 3+ years in a similar role with proven success in supporting students with emotional disorders.
