Job Description

The Tribal Judge will preside over legal proceedings in a tribal court, interpreting and enforcing tribal laws and regulations, and providing guidance and support to community members.

Responsibilities

  • Preside over legal proceedings while ensuring fairness and impartiality.
  • Communicate legal rulings clearly to the community.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to youth involved in the legal system.
  • Continuously update court procedures in line with best practices.
  • Foster community engagement in the justice process.
  • Advocate for the rights of community members within the legal framework.
  • Conduct community outreach to educate about tribal laws.
  • Stay informed about changes in both Indigenous and Australian law.
