Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Sow Manager to take charge of our sow operations at our farm. The ideal candidate will possess robust knowledge of breeding, farrowing, and ensuring optimal sow health and productivity. This role requires a hands-on approach to managing sow care and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire sow production cycle from breeding to farrowing and weaning.
  • Establish and maintain nutrition plans tailored to the specific needs of the sows.
  • Work with veterinary teams to ensure the health and biosecurity of the herd.
  • Conduct regular training sessions for farm staff to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Prepare detailed reports on sow performance metrics for management.
  • Implement improvements in breeding techniques to boost production.
  • Assist in managing the financial aspects of the sow operations, including budgeting for feed and veterinary care.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records for all animals, ensuring data integrity.
  • Foster a positive working culture within the team, encouraging collaboration and open communication.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or Agriculture
  • Master's degree preferred
Experience
  • At least 5 years in a supervisory role within livestock farming.
