Job Description

We are seeking a passionate Fish Conservationist to join our team in Melbourne. In this role, you will study and implement strategies to protect fish species and their habitats. Your work will be critical in promoting sustainable fishing practices and ensuring the health of aquatic ecosystems. As part of a dedicated team, you'll engage in both field research and community education efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in hands-on fieldwork, including tagging and tracking fish species.
  • Facilitate partnerships between stakeholders for effective conservation measures.
  • Conduct environmental assessments to identify threats to local fisheries.
  • Document and report on the impact of various fishing practices on fish populations.
  • Help in the development of community guidelines for sustainable resource use.
  • Participate in scientific research to advance the field of fish conservation.
  • Advocate for stronger fishing regulations and policies at local and national levels.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Fisheries Science or Environmental Studies
  • Relevant certifications in conservation preferred.
Experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in aquatic conservation
