Job Description

We seek a passionate Severe Mental Handicaps Special Education Teacher to provide specialised instruction for students facing significant challenges. Your role will involve collaboration with other professionals to ensure optimal support and outcomes for each student.

Responsibilities

• Design learning activities that accommodate and have high expectations for students with severe mental handicaps.
• Engage in regular assessment of student performance and adapt teaching methodologies accordingly.
• Promote positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment through the use of effective behaviour management strategies.
• Incorporate assistive technologies and tools to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to create a holistic approach to education.
• Guide and mentor support staff in implementing IEPs and address individual student needs.
• Cultivate strong relationships with families and the community to support students and their families.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field
• Valid teaching certification

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in Special Education, preferably with students with severe mental handicaps

• Microsoft Office Suite

Certifications

• Registered Teacher Status

Languages

• English: Fluent
