Job Description

The Ship Keeper is responsible for maintaining and repairing various components of a ship to ensure the smooth operation and safety of both the crew and passengers. This role is vital in ensuring the vessel remains seaworthy and compliant with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake routine inspections and troubleshooting of ship systems.
  • Oversee repairs and upgrades to marine machinery and systems.
  • Document maintenance activities and compliance with safety standards.
  • Facilitate communication between department heads regarding maintenance needs.
  • Act as a point of contact for safety compliance and audits.
  • Train and mentor junior staff in maintenance procedures.
  • Participate in implementing energy-efficient practices on board.

Requirements

Education
  • Certificate IV in Marine Engineering or higher
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior maintenance role within the marine sector.
