Job Description

As a Public Safety Telecommunicator, you'll be on the front lines of emergency communication, answering calls, assessing situations, and dispatching the necessary services promptly. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls effectively.
  • Evaluate and prioritise incoming calls based on urgency.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and fire services to manage incidents.
  • Utilise CAD and EMD software to track incidents.
  • Document all communications and actions taken during an incident.
  • Assist in the training of new telecommunicators.
  • Stay updated with emergency protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct regular checks on communications equipment and software.
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Participate in community outreach programs related to public safety.

Requirements

Education
  • Completion of a telecommunicator training program
Experience
  • Experience in a fast-paced call centre environment is a plus

  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software

Certifications
  • Advanced life support (ALS) certification
Languages
