Job Description
As a Deputy Coroner, you will support investigations into deaths, determine causes and manners of death, and interact with bereaved families. You are key to ensuring justice is served while providing compassion and clarity to those affected by loss.
Responsibilities
Assist the Chief Coroner in overseeing death investigations.
Issue summonses for witnesses and manage documentary evidence.
Conduct post-mortem examinations under legal guidelines.
Prepare case files and ensure they meet legal requirements.
Support families with resources and information regarding cases.
Ensure all investigations are handled impartially and sensitively.
Deliver education on coronial processes to community groups.
Maintain accurate records of investigations and findings.
Collaborate with external stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive investigation.
Stay updated on changes in relevant laws and procedures.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree in Law or Medicine
Postgraduate qualifications in forensic medicine are beneficial
Experience
5+ years in a relevant field with a focus on investigations
