Arborist Assistant

Job Description

As an Arborist Assistant, you will provide vital support to our Arborists in maintaining the health and safety of trees in various locations. Your role includes assisting with tree planting, trimming, and removal, while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. We seek a reliable team player who is passionate about horticulture.

Responsibilities

• Support Arborists in conducting risk assessments of tree conditions.
• Assist in the planning and execution of tree care projects.
• Handle tree maintenance machinery safely and efficiently.
• Work with the team to ensure effective communication on-site.
• Document maintenance activities and progress reports.
• Participate in community outreach and educational programs about tree health.
• Assist in emergency response situations involving trees.
• Maintain logbooks for equipment and machinery usage.
• Support sustainable practices in all tree maintenance activities.

Requirements

Education

• Certificate II or III in Arboriculture preferred

Experience

• Previous experience working on a tree care team is desirable.

Technical Skills

• Stump grinder operation
• Pruning techniques

Soft Skills

• Communication
• Problem solving

Certifications

• Chainsaw certification
• Forklift license (desirable)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of local flora and fauna: Understanding of regional plant species and their care.
• Experience operating wood chippers: Familiarity with wood chipper operations for debris management.
