Job Description

The Special Education Paraeducator will play a vital role in supporting students with disabilities in the educational settings. This position involves working closely with classroom teachers to implement individualized education plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and delivery of lesson plans that cater to the needs of special education students.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Implement behaviour support strategies for students exhibiting challenging behaviours.
• Facilitate communication between students and specialists when necessary.
• Educate students on social skills and emotional regulation.
• Encourage inclusion in classroom activities by promoting peer interactions.
• Engage in continuous professional development to improve support strategies.
• Actively contribute to a safe and supportive learning environment.

Requirements

Education

• Certificate III in Education Support or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related fields is preferred

Experience

• Experience implementing individual education plans for students with special needs.
