Job Description

As a Geological Technician at Geotechnical Services Pty Ltd, you will conduct soil sampling and testing, perform field investigations, and analyse geotechnical data to support essential infrastructure projects. Your work is vital in ensuring that construction meets safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical field investigations, including site reconnaissance.
• Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
• Ensure that all field and laboratory work is conducted per industry standards.
• Maintain accurate and organized field records.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations during investigations.
• Assist in the training of junior technicians on fieldwork procedures.
• Work with GIS software to analyse geotechnical data.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering

Experience

• At least 3 years of relevant work experience

Technical Skills

• Data analysis software (e.g. R, Matlab)
• Soil and rock testing equipment

Soft Skills

• Time Management
• Problem-solving

Certifications

• RPEQ certification (Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with numerical modelling software: Hands-on experience with FLAC or PLAXIS for geotechnical modelling.
• Understanding of slope stability analysis: Familiarity with techniques for analysing slope stability and landslide risk.
