Forest and Conservation Technicians

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate Forest Technician who is eager to make a difference in the conservation of our forests. In this role, you will assist with managing and maintaining forest ecosystems, conducting health assessments, and implementing management plans. You'll work alongside a dynamic team committed to sustainable practices and ecological integrity.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the monitoring of wildlife habitats and report on findings.
• Conduct assessments for reforestation projects and provide recommendations.
• Work collaboratively with governmental and non-governmental organisations.
• Participate in forest fire prevention and management strategies.
• Conduct educational sessions for schools and community groups about sustainable practices.
• Assist in the preparation of technical reports on forest management.
• Provide outreach support for community-based conservation initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records of fieldwork, data collection, and analyses.
• Analyze data using GIS technologies to assess forest health.
• Support in training new technicians and volunteers in field methods.

Requirements

Education

• Diploma in Environmental Management, Conservation, or Forestry

Experience

• Experience in community engagement activities is highly regarded.
