Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Specimen Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for receiving, processing, and analysing various types of specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples. Attention to detail and a passion for laboratory science are essential for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, label, and process patient specimens accurately.
  • Prepare and analyse laboratory specimens, ensuring high-quality results.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Record and interpret laboratory data in a timely manner.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies and ensure equipment is properly calibrated.
  • Comply with laboratory safety and infection control procedures.
  • Educate patients and staff about specimen collection protocols.
  • Document any discrepancies in specimen handling and report them immediately.
  • Assist in training new laboratory staff and interns.
  • Stay updated on new laboratory procedures and techniques.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, or a related field
  • Master's degree in Medical Laboratory Science is considered an advantage
Experience
  • Experience with various types of laboratory tests and procedures is preferred
