Victim Advocate

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Victim Advocate who will assist individuals affected by crime. Your responsibilities will include providing emotional support, advocating for victims' needs, assisting with safety planning, and collaborating with community resources to foster recovery.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional support and crisis intervention to victims of crime.
• Advocate for victims’ rights and needs within the legal system.
• Assist victims with navigating the criminal justice process and understanding their options.
• Refer victims to appropriate community resources such as counselling, legal assistance, and housing services.
• Document all interactions with victims and maintain accurate records as per organisation policies.
• Develop and implement safety plans tailored to the individual needs of victims.
• Participate in training and outreach activities to raise awareness of victim rights and available services.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, healthcare providers, and community organisations to improve victim services.
• Provide court accompaniment and support to victims during legal proceedings.
• Be part of an on-call rotation to provide after-hours crisis support to victims.
