Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Shorthand Reporter to deliver accurate and timely transcriptions of spoken words during legal proceedings and meetings. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional shorthand skills and a keen eye for detail, ensuring clarity and completeness in their work. Responsibilities

  • Attend legal proceedings, such as court hearings, depositions, and arbitrations, to accurately record spoken proceedings.
  • Transcribe shorthand notes into comprehensive written records following established transcription standards.
  • Review and proofread transcriptions for errors, grammar, and clarity.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of all transcriptions and related information.
  • Collaborate with legal professionals, judges, and attorneys to clarify unclear or inaudible portions of the shorthand notes, if required.
  • Maintain and update a comprehensive database of transcriptions for easy retrieval.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in shorthand technology and techniques.
  • Adhere to strict deadlines and manage multiple transcription assignments simultaneously.
  • Prepare documents for filing in a timely manner.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and training.

Requirements

Education
  • Certification in Shorthand Reporting or equivalent
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Shorthand Reporter in a legal or similar setting.
