Collector of Aquarium Specimens

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Collector of Aquarium Specimens to join our team at Aquatic Wonders Pty Ltd. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting diverse and rare aquatic specimens for our exhibits. Your expertise will help educate the public about marine ecosystems while ensuring compliance with ethical collection practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular dives to gather aquatic specimens.
• Monitor and report the health of collected specimens.
• Educate the public on the importance of marine ecosystems.
• Collaborate with the science team on research initiatives.
• Assist in exhibit design and setup for new marine species.
• Maintain diving equipment and ensure safety checks are performed.

Requirements

Education

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
• Certification in marine biology or related field is advantageous

Experience

• 1+ years of experience in aquatic species collection or a related field

Technical Skills

• Diving Equipment Handling
• Aquatic Ecosystems Knowledge

Soft Skills

• Attention to Detail
• Flexibility

Certifications

• Certification in SCUBA Diving

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in aquarium or marine biology research: Hands-on experience in research settings related to marine life and conservation.
• Experience in aquarium or exhibit design: Knowledge of how to present marine life for educational purposes.
