Special Education Teacher (Sign Language)

Job Description

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Special Education Teacher skilled in sign language to work directly with our diverse student population. Your responsibilities will include developing lesson plans, providing feedback, and creating extracurricular activities that promote sign language and deaf culture.

Responsibilities

• Teach sign language to students with varying levels of proficiency.
• Design inclusive lesson plans tailored to meet the diverse learning styles of students.
• Evaluate students' progress and adapt lessons as necessary to support their learning.
• Facilitate classroom activities that promote engagement and understanding of deaf culture.
• Provide additional support to students who require it while fostering their independence.
• Engage in collaborative planning with other educators to enhance the educational experience.
• Utilise technology and multimedia resources to enrich lesson content.
• Maintain a safe and positive classroom environment conducive to effective learning.

Requirements

Education

• Diploma in Auslan (Australian Sign Language)
• Bachelor of Education (Deaf Studies) or equivalent is preferred

Experience

• Minimum 2 years' experience teaching sign language
