Furnace Operator and Tender

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Furnace Operator and Tender to join our manufacturing team. As a Furnace Operator, you'll be responsible for operating and maintaining furnaces, ensuring the production of high-quality glass materials. Your attention to detail and dedication to safety will be crucial.

Responsibilities

• Operate and control furnace equipment to melt glass or other materials.
• Adjust furnace controls and make necessary changes to maintain optimum operating conditions.
• Inspect for defects and remove impurities from molten materials.
• Collaborate with the production team to meet production targets and quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and follow proper procedures at all times.
• Record production data and maintain accurate documentation.
• Perform equipment checks and report any issues to the supervisor.
• Assist in training new staff on furnace operations and safety protocols.
• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives for enhanced productivity.
• Participate in audits and inspections as required.

Requirements

Education

• Trade certificate or vocational qualification in a relevant field.

Experience

• Experience in furnace operation or a similar role is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Experience with specific furnace models or types
• Forklift operation

• Adaptability

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Additional certifications in safety: Relevant certifications that demonstrate safety competence will be advantageous.
• Experience with material handling equipment: Familiarity with forklifts and other handling equipment to assist in operations.
