Job Description

As a Special Education Teacher specializing in hearing impairments, you will play a crucial role in creating a supportive learning environment for students with hearing disabilities. Your expertise will be essential in developing tailored lesson plans and utilizing assistive technologies to ensure that every student can learn and thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Create Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for each student with hearing impairments.
  • Utilize various teaching strategies and methodologies to cater to different learning styles.
  • Assess and document student progress regularly, providing feedback to parents.
  • Facilitate effective communication among students, families, and educational staff.
  • Implement behavior management strategies consistent with school policies.
  • Coordinate with speech therapists and other specialists to enhance student learning.
  • Engage students in hands-on activities that promote language and communication skills.
  • Research and adapt new teaching tools and resources pertinent to hearing disabilities.
  • Provide training for staff on best practices for supporting hearing-impaired students.
  • Participate in community outreach programs to raise awareness about hearing disabilities.

Requirements

Education
  • Master's degree in Education or related field is preferred
  • Certification in Special Education (Hearing Impaired) or equivalent
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching students with hearing disabilities
Technical Skills
  • Experience with cochlear implants and hearing aids
