Job Description
The First Mate supports the Captain in navigating and operating the vessel, ensuring the safety and welfare of both crew and passengers. This role involves a wide range of responsibilities, from supervising the crew to maintaining ship operations.
Responsibilities
Supervise deck operations and ensure compliance with maritime regulations.
Monitor navigation systems and assist in route planning.
Train junior crew members on safety and operational procedures.
Conduct inspections on safety equipment and ensure they are in working order.
Assist in crew management and scheduling.
Participate in maintenance and logistical support.
Facilitate effective communication between onboard and shore teams.
Ensure that all shipboard records are maintained accurately and to regulation standards.
Requirements
Education
STCW Crisis Management and Human Behaviour Training
Higher level Certificate of Competency (Master, Chief Mate)
Experience
Experience with luxury yachts or cruise ships is advantageous.
Technical Skills
Emergency response and first aid

Additional language skills: Knowledge of multiple languages is valued, especially in international waters.
Experience with international travel and regulations: Experience navigating varying maritime laws and regulations.
