Patient Care Assistant (PCA)

Job Description

As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing support to patients in aged care. You will assist with daily living activities and ensure that clients receive the dignity, respect, and quality care they deserve in a nurturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Support clients in daily activities ensuring their comfort.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop care plans.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients.
• Assist in the administration of medications when directed.
• Engage patients in social activities to promote well-being.
• Provide feedback to the nursing team regarding patient health and behaviours.

Requirements

Education

• Certificate III or IV in Aged Care or equivalent

Experience

• Previous experience in an aged care setting is an advantage.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of EHR systems
• Basic food preparation skills

Soft Skills

• Teamwork
• Adaptability

Certifications

• Current First Aid and CPR certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Fluency in a second language: Ability to converse in another language to assist diverse clients.
• Experience working with elderly or disabled patients: Previous experience in caring for elderly or disabled populations.
