Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Hot Cell Technician to join our team in Melbourne. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing hot cell facilities, ensuring their safe operation and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role involves hands-on work and a commitment to safety in a dynamic nuclear environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain hot cells and other nuclear material handling equipment.
• Perform remote handling of radioactive materials using specialized tools and equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of hot cells and associated systems.
• Prepare, package, and transport radioactive waste according to regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of radiation exposure and waste generation.
• Follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure the health and safety of yourself and others.
• Collaborate with the radiation safety team to uphold safety standards.
• Monitor and report any malfunctions or issues in hot cell operations.
• Assist in training new technicians in safety protocols and procedures.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering, radiation protection, or a related field
• Nuclear Technology Diploma is advantageous

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in radiation safety or related field
