Job Description

As an Oncology Social Worker, you will provide crucial emotional and psychological support to cancer patients and their families. Your role will involve assisting patients in navigating the complexities of their treatment and ensuring they have the necessary resources and support.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments to identify patients' psychosocial needs related to their cancer diagnosis.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to patients in distress.
  • Facilitate support groups for patients and their families.
  • Advocate for patients to enhance access to care and resources.
  • Network with local agencies to establish referrals for patients needing additional services.
  • Implement strategies to reduce barriers to care for oncology patients.
  • Evaluate and adjust care plans as needed based on patient feedback.
  • Provide bereavement support and counseling to families post-treatment.
  • Promote community awareness of cancer support services.
  • Participate in research and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.

Requirements

Education
  • Master's degree in Social Work or related field is preferred
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in oncology social work or closely related field.
