Mental Health Therapist

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and qualified Mental Health Therapist to join our dynamic team in Sunshine Coast. The ideal candidate will provide therapeutic services to clients dealing with various mental health issues, help develop treatment plans, and foster a supportive environment for recovery.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and diagnose clients’ mental health conditions through interviews and assessments.
• Design treatment plans that align with clients' personal goals and preferences.
• Conduct therapy sessions using evidence-based practices.
• Document treatment progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
• Collaborate with psychologists, psychiatrists, and other health providers.
• Provide psychoeducation to clients and their families.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss client progress.
• Maintain adherence to ethical and professional standards.
• Foster an inclusive and empowering atmosphere for all clients.
• Engage in continued education to enhance therapeutic skills.

Requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counselling
• Additional training in therapeutic techniques is advantageous

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in individual and group therapy

Technical Skills

• Trauma-Informed Care
• Motivational Interviewing

Soft Skills

• Active Listening
• Conflict Resolution

Certifications

• Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC)
• Advanced First Aid Training

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Bilingual abilities: Ability to communicate in another language is a plus.
• Prior experience in a community health setting: Experience working with diverse populations in community-based programs.
