Street Inspector

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Street Inspector to monitor and manage the condition of streets across Melbourne. This role includes conducting regular inspections, reporting on findings, and coordinating repairs with local authorities to maintain safe travel for all. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and enjoys working outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Inspect streets and roadways for damage, hazards and safety issues.
• Document findings and communicate with appropriate departments for necessary action.
• Manage and maintain street maintenance equipment and supplies.
• Engage with the public to provide excellent customer service.
• Participate in community outreach programs to educate residents on street safety.
• Work in collaboration with other teams to promote overall public safety.
• Ensure timely follow-up on maintenance requests and complaints.
• Develop strategies for street management and improvement.
• Monitor works conducted by contractors to ensure quality standards.
• Evaluate the need for new street maintenance tools and techniques.

Requirements

Education

• Certificate III or IV in Civil Construction
• White Card certification

Experience

• 2+ years of relevant experience in road maintenance or similar fields.

Technical Skills

• Experience with GIS software
• Ability to interpret technical drawings

Soft Skills

• Teamwork

Certifications

• First Aid Certificate
• White Card Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Project management experience: Experience managing small-scale maintenance projects.
• Certifications in environmental management: Additional training or certification related to environmental compliance.
