Job Description

We are in search of a knowledgeable Art Critic to join our team in Melbourne. The ideal candidate will possess a refined understanding of contemporary art and its movements, as well as the ability to articulate informed opinions through engaging writing. Your insights will contribute to our publication's reputation as a trusted source in the arts community.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze artworks and exhibitions, aiming to offer a diverse perspective.
  • Craft engaging and persuasive articles that resonate with our audience and promote dialogue in the arts community.
  • Network with artists and industry professionals to gain insights and promote our publication.
  • Attend events and exhibitions, providing real-time coverage when applicable.
  • Work with the editorial team to brainstorm and pitch compelling story ideas.
  • Develop a personal brand through social media engagement and public speaking.
  • Evaluate and critique submissions from other writers and critics to maintain quality standards.
  • Contribute to monthly editorial meetings with insights on market trends and audience engagement.
  • Participate in strategy discussions to expand our reach and enhance our content offerings.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred
Experience
  • 5 years of experience in journalism or a critique role preferred
