Job Description

As a Purchasing Agent specializing in pulpwood contracting, you will oversee the procurement processes, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and fostering relationships with local suppliers. Your role is crucial in managing the sustainable harvesting of timber while ensuring safety and efficiency in operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the sourcing of timber, ensuring quality and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with local Indigenous communities to facilitate harvesting processes.
  • Generate and maintain procurement reports to track spending and compliance.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate contracts to ensure optimal pricing.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Support safety initiatives and ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulations impacting timber procurement.
  • Work with management to develop procurement strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
  • Manage timber inventory and forecast future procurement needs.

Requirements

Education
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Forestry, Environmental Management or Agriculture
Experience
  • At least 5 years in timber procurement or related fields
