Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Torch Shearer to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for shearing sheep with an electric shearing machine and maintaining high standards of animal welfare and hygiene. This role requires passion for agriculture and strong physical stamina.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sheep shearing efficiently using the torch method.
  • Maintain stock welfare by assessing health conditions.
  • Ensure the shearing area is sanitized and organized.
  • Sort wool into appropriate classification categories.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Provide support to team members during peak shearing seasons.
  • Contribute to team discussions on operational improvements.
  • Support the training of new shearers in safe practices.

Requirements

Education
  • Certificate III in Animal Husbandry
Experience
  • 3-5 years preferred in sheep shearing or similar agricultural roles
Technical Skills
  • Wool Sorting
  • First Aid

Languages
  • English: Fluent

  • Experience working in remote locations: Ability to adapt to rural work conditions and travel when necessary.
