Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Fish Hatchery Superintendent to oversee the daily operations of our hatchery in Townsville. Your role will involve managing breeding, staff supervision, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations to promote sustainable practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily hatchery operations, ensuring efficient feeding, spawning, and grading of fish.
  • Manage the training and performance reviews of hatchery staff.
  • Develop strategies for hatchery optimization and sustainable practices.
  • Conduct assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Implement health and safety practices to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Evaluate hatchery processes, suggesting improvements where necessary.
  • Liaise with suppliers for hatchery equipment and feed.
  • Prepare reports on hatchery performance for upper management.
  • Participate in community outreach and educational programs related to aquaculture.
  • Foster an inclusive team culture focused on communication and collaboration.

Requirements

Education
  • Master’s degree in Aquaculture or related field preferred
Experience
  • 5 years of experience in fish farming or aquaculture operations
