Job Description

As a Metal-Refining Furnace Operator, also known as a Furnace Keeper, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining furnaces used in the production of metals. This role requires keen attention to detail and a strong understanding of furnace operations to ensure high efficiency and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct evaluations of furnace efficiency and performance.
• Adjust operational procedures based on technical specifications.
• Train and mentor junior operators on best practices.
• Perform audits of safety and operational standards.
• Collaborate in team meetings to discuss improvement strategies.
• Assist with troubleshooting and corrective action plans.
• Support maintenance staff during extensive repairs.
• Communicate changes in production schedules due to furnace operations.
• Maintain a detailed log of operational tasks and safety checks.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and industry standards.

Requirements

Education

• Advanced diploma in Metallurgy or related field
• Trade qualification is highly regarded

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in a similar role

Technical Skills

• Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
• Mechanical and electronic system knowledge

Soft Skills

• Analytical thinking
• Teamwork

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in a metallurgy environment: Prior work in metal production enhancing skill in technical operations.
