Job Description

As a Transverse Abdominal Muscle Nurse (TRAM Nurse), you will play a crucial role in the surgical team, providing specialised care to patients undergoing transverse abdominal muscle flap surgery. This involves assessing and monitoring patients throughout the surgical process, collaborating closely with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient outcomes. Your expertise will help create comprehensive nursing care plans and support patients' families during the recovery phase.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing support throughout the surgical process.
  • Work closely with anaesthetists and surgeons for seamless surgical outcomes.
  • Educate patients on what to expect pre-and post-surgery.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss patient care strategies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to address patient concerns effectively.
  • Support the orientation and training of new nursing staff.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives within the nursing team.
  • Conduct regular audits of compliance with nursing protocols and guidelines.

Requirements

Education
  • Registered Nurse qualification with current Australian registration
  • Additional certifications in perioperative nursing or relevant specialty preferred
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in surgical nursing, preferably with experience in TRAM flap surgeries.
