Job Description

The Reference Archivist will be responsible for acquiring and managing archival collections, as well as providing reference and research services to patrons. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of archival standards and demonstrate excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with both staff and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex searches and investigations to retrieve historical records.
  • Manage and process archival collections, including accessioning and preservation.
  • Develop outreach and educational programs to promote archival use.
  • Engage with patrons to provide tailored research support.
  • Contribute to policy development for archival management.
  • Collaborate with IT on digitisation projects.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Library and Information Science or related field
  • Master's Degree preferred
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in archival work
