Job Description

As a Recreational Therapist, you will be responsible for designing and implementing recreational programs aimed at improving the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of individuals with disabilities or illnesses. Your expertise will help foster an inclusive environment where clients can enjoy and benefit from various activities.

Responsibilities

  • Create and deliver innovative recreational programs designed to meet diverse client needs.
  • Conduct evaluations to determine the viability and effectiveness of programs.
  • Work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure programs align with treatment goals.
  • Assess client interests to curate engaging recreational options.
  • Maintain safety standards and risk management protocols during activities.
  • Encourage participation in group activities to foster social interactions.
  • Keep detailed records of client participation and progress.
  • Coordinate group outings within the community to enrich client experiences.
  • Lead training sessions for staff regarding best practices in recreational therapy.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance therapeutic techniques.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field
  • Master's degree in a related field is preferred
Experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in therapeutic recreation or a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.
