Job Description

We are searching for a dedicated Barge Hand to assist in the operation and maintenance of our barges. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the Barge Captain in navigating waterways, ensuring the safety of the crew and cargo, and maintaining equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe handling of cargo during loading/unloading.
  • Keep the barge and equipment in good working condition.
  • Engage in navigational support alongside the Captain.
  • Promote a safety-first culture onboard.
  • Facilitate effective team communication.
  • Perform pre-departure equipment checks.
  • Maintain operation logs detailing activities.
  • Assist with securing the barge at docking points.
  • Conduct basic maintenance tasks on equipment.
  • Participate in safety training and emergency response plans.

Requirements

Education
  • AMSA certification as General Purpose Hand (GPH)
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
Experience
  • Previous experience as a Barge Hand or in a similar role advantageous.
