Job Description

An Anesthesia Assistant plays a pivotal role in supporting anesthesiologists throughout the patient care process. You will assist with preparing patients for procedures, monitoring their status, and ensuring that all necessary equipment is functioning properly. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain anesthesia equipment and supplies for procedures.
  • Assist with patient positioning and monitoring during surgery.
  • Support the anesthesiologist in administering anesthesia and other medications.
  • Ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards in the anesthesia work area.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss patient care and quality improvement.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization in the anesthesia area.
  • Contribute to quality control efforts and assist with audits.
  • Engage in patient education regarding anesthesia processes and safety.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment within the surgical team.

Requirements

Education
  • Certificate IV in Anaesthetic Technology or equivalent
  • Current registration with the Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA)
Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an Anesthesia Assistant in a hospital or clinical setting.
