Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and dedicated Bacteriology Technician to become part of our team in Melbourne. In this role, you will perform a variety of laboratory tasks related to the study and analysis of bacteria, contributing to vital research and development projects. Your meticulous approach will ensure high-quality results, therefore a strong understanding of microbiological principles is essential. You will be actively involved in isolating and identifying bacteria, and maintaining bacterial cultures, while also collaborating with fellow researchers to present findings effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform microbiological tests on clinical and environmental samples.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of laboratory reagents.
  • Conduct investigations into bacterial strains and their behaviours.
  • Document experimental procedures and results accurately.
  • Ensure the laboratory maintains high standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Support projects aimed at improving laboratory efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Engage in regular training sessions to enhance technical skills.
  • Collaborate with external partners for research initiatives.
  • Take part in scientific discussions and share insights to foster team growth.
  • Record and analyze experimental data using appropriate software.
  • Implement new methods for sample analysis as directed.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related field
  • Master's degree is preferred
Experience
  • 2-3 years of experience working in a microbiology laboratory
