Ferryboat Captain

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ferryboat Captain to oversee the safe navigation and operation of our ferry services. The ideal candidate will have extensive maritime experience and a strong commitment to safety and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all crew members and ensure proper conduct on board.
• Coordinate with shore personnel to ensure safe docking and undocking.
• Monitor weather conditions and adjust navigation accordingly.
• Conduct safety drills and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness and order on the vessel.
• Participate in the recruitment and training of new crew members.
• Develop and implement operational procedures to improve efficiency.
• Oversee the management of vessel budgets and resources.

Requirements

Education

• Valid seafarer medical certificate

Experience

• Proven experience operating vessels with hybrid or alternative energy sources is advantageous.

Technical Skills

• Ability to handle and maneuver large vessels in varying weather and water conditions
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations

Advantageous

• Experience with ferryboat operations and regulations in the specific region: Familiarity with specific maritime laws and procedures in Australian waters.
• Additional language skills: Proficiency in languages other than English is a bonus.
