Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker to join our team in Melbourne. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, producing, and maintaining high-quality tools and dies used in the manufacturing of metal components. A strong attention to detail and a passion for craftsmanship are key.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections of tools and dies to ensure quality.
• Utilize grinding and polishing equipment to achieve desired finishes.
• Participate in product development meetings to provide insights.
• Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste.
• Assist in the training of apprentices in toolmaking techniques.
• Keep work area organized and maintain tools in good condition.

Requirements

Education

• Technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Toolmaking

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in tool and die making

Technical Skills

• Skilled in welding and fabrication
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing practices
• Expertise in die design and modification

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to work under pressure

Languages

• English: Fluent

• Demonstrated experience in a similar role within the manufacturing sector: Proven track record in toolmaking and teamwork in a high-pressure environment.
• Familiarity with automated toolmaking processes: Knowledge of the latest technology and automation in the industry.
