Job Description

As a Field Hearing Officer, you will play a pivotal role in our organization by conducting hearings related to disability benefits claims and making informed decisions according to set policies and legal guidelines. Your expertise will ensure that clients receive fair treatment and appropriate assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage hearings ensuring all parties are heard.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of claims and relevant medical documentation.
  • Stay informed about changes in legislation affecting disability claims.
  • Foster relationships with external stakeholders including community organizations.
  • Ensure confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive information.
  • Prepare detailed reports summarizing hearings and outcomes.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss ongoing improvements.
  • Help develop training materials for new team members.
  • Assist in outreach programs to educate the community on benefits.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Master's degree is an advantage
Experience
  • 2+ years in legal or administrative hearings, ideally within a disability context
Technical Skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Case management software experience
Soft Skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Empathy and understanding
Languages
  • English: Fluent
