High School Learning Support Teacher

Job Description

The High School Learning Support Teacher will provide dedicated assistance to students with special learning needs. In this role, you will collaborate with classroom teachers and parents to develop tailored individual education plans (IEPs) and ensure that students receive the support they require to thrive in a mainstream educational environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist educators in modifying lesson plans to cater to individual learning needs.
• Provide emotional and social support to enhance student confidence and participation.
• Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths and areas for improvement.
• Foster a supportive learning environment that encourages student participation.
• Facilitate communication with parents regarding student progress and strategies for support.
• Engage in relevant training to enhance knowledge in special education.
• Participate in school meetings and activities to promote student welfare.
• Utilise assistive technology to enhance student learning experiences.
• Keep up with legislative changes in special education policy.
• Document and report on student progress and development.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education
• Postgraduate qualifications in education support are an advantage

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a secondary education setting with a focus on special needs
