Job Description

As the Chief Lock Tender Operator, you will supervise the safe and efficient operation of locks on our busy waterways in Brisbane. Your role is vital in ensuring vessels can pass through seamlessly while maintaining safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily lock operations and ensure compliance with safety measures.
  • Oversee maintenance schedules and ensure that all equipment is operational.
  • Assess and report on the condition of locks to management.
  • Work closely with local authorities and emergency services as necessary.
  • Implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
  • Facilitate communication between the lock team and external stakeholders.
  • Manage and coordinate training sessions for staff on lock operations.
  • Handle incidents and emergencies following protocols to safeguard personnel and vessels.
  • Engage in community outreach to promote awareness of waterway safety.
  • Participate in strategic meetings to address logistical challenges.

Requirements

Education
  • Certificate IV in Water Operations is preferred
  • Heavy Vehicle Driver's License
Experience
  • 5 years' experience in water operations or a related field.
