Polysomnography Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Polysomnography Technician to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this role, you will conduct polysomnography studies and analyze results to assist in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders. Your expertise will play a vital part in improving patients' sleep health and overall well-being.

Responsibilities

• Conduct high-quality polysomnographic evaluations on patients.
• Ensure effective communication with patients regarding procedures.
• Evaluate and interpret sleep data for clinical relevance.
• Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare team members.
• Support ongoing clinical research related to sleep medicine.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives in the lab.
• Keep abreast of the latest technologies in sleep study equipment.
• Facilitate the smooth operation of the sleep lab by ensuring equipment readiness.
• Help troubleshoot technical issues that may arise during studies.
• Participate in continuing education and training sessions.

Requirements

Education

• Certification in Polysomnography Technology or related field
• Diploma in healthcare-related field is preferred

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Polysomnography Technician in a clinical setting.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of sleep disorders and relevant diagnostic tools
• Proficiency in data analysis of polysomnography studies

Soft Skills

• Strong communication skills
• Attention to detail

Certifications

• Current registration with the Australian Association of Sleep Technologists (AAST)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with pediatric polysomnography studies: Experience working with children in a sleep study setting.
• Familiarity with testing for multiple sleep latency (MSLT): Knowledge of conducting MSLT for accurate sleep disorder diagnosis.
