Job Description

We are on the hunt for an experienced Sternman to assist the Skipper in operating our fishing vessel. This role involves the safe and efficient handling of our catch, alongside maintaining the vessel and ensuring all safety protocols are followed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in cleaning and maintaining fishing gear and machinery.
• Record and document all fishing activities and results.
• Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and best practices.
• Participate in safety drills and training sessions.
• Assist in preparing for voyages by checking inventory and supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Skipper.
• Promote sustainability and eco-friendly practices during operations.

Requirements

Education

• Marine Radio Operator Certificate.
• Experience in marine navigation preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years working as a Sternman or in the fishing industry.

Technical Skills

• Physical fitness and stamina
• Handling fishing gear safely

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in managing and training crew members: Skills in leading and mentoring other team members on the vessel.
